Brass Knuckles

Josh Homme--with credentials consisting of Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, and now Them Crooked Vultures, this tall drink of water shreds on a daily basis. His music, classified as "desert rock", "hard rock", "neo-psychedelia", "blues rock" and "stoner rock", gets anyone's heart pumping, making you want to grab a cheap beer, crack it, chug it, and throw it against the wall. If the man, the myth, the legend, John Paul Jones from Zeppelin, approaches you to collaborate, you must be pretty awesome. Keep dominating Homme, keep dominating...

Love for Brassai

Brassai, "the photographer of the night", climbed to fame in Paris during the 1930's. Wandering the late-night streets of Paris, his subjects consisted of lovers kissing in shadows, ghostly city street lamps, bedroom lovers, elegant city shadows and night owls in smokey cafe corners. He eloquently captured the seedier side of Paris that most people passed with averted eyes and glorified it through is remarkable eye for light and shadow combined with a sensitivity to those that usually fade in to the dark.

His fleshy nude sketches are brilliant as well. Inspiration for future contemporary artist De Kooning?

For the Girlies...

Go to www.Oasis-Stores.com now! These graphic trompe-l'oeil pieces by London designer Rosalind Keep are back in stock on this UK site. The hype on her adorable line continues to grow, so I am sure these will go quick!

I got my trench t-shirt dress a couple of weeks ago and it is everything I wanted and more :)

(psst...Oasis is also having a great sale, full of bargains...affordable leather jackets, Tron-esque leggings, which everyone needs, and loud print dresses.)

Thanks Miss Rosalind, I love my dress!

The Company I Keep

“Tell me what company you keep and I'll tell you
what you are.” -Miguel de Cervante

Here is my cast of characters. Each one of them
makes everyday more entertaining, full of laughs,
chaotic, adventurous, loud and in the end
definitely more fun.

William Steig-Inspiration

When I was young, before I could really read, my mom gave me a copy of this small clever yellow book. Over and over, I would flip through the pages, sounding out the letters, chuckling to myself, and figuring out each letter-riddle with the help of the accompanied sketchy cartoon. I found such entertainment in its simplicity and a great sense of accomplishment and pride in my master decoding skills.

Today, I asked for help with my blog title and my clever boyfriend suggested, over gchat, o-u-r-a-q-t-pie...instantly catapulting me back in time to the backseat of our bathtub-esque white Cadillac, I remembered my yellow companion during long car trips (growing up in Houston, every car trip was long...). The title was perfect.

Here are some of my favorites:

A Brief Introduction of Julie:
