Big Purses, Woof.

Other than my large black leather Yohji Yamamoto bag, I hate carrying a big purse! The bigger the bag, the more crap I accumulate. I only carry my YY bag because it is hands down the nicest, most luxurious thing I own. A couple years ago, I had the thought of a new reality show which would entail grabbing 5 women off the street and putting them on a deserted island, surviving solely off the contents of their handbag...I would watch it, would you?

When I don't carry my beloved YY bag, I carry a small pocket book that is big enough for my iphone, camera, wallet, and a few lip glosses, always a few. For all you all out there that like to tuck your things tightly under your arm, instead of being weighed down by a 45 lb. purse, here are some recommendations for clutches:

Nailed It

I was so amped when I was pursuing the NARS site and saw that they were bringing back some oldies but goodies...In high school my sister and I were obsessed with NARS polish and Orgasm blush, which we both still wear. So happy to see that they have brought back my favorite Zulu green polish.

Another nail-love is Schlap, a super hot neon pink. One day when I own a Ferrari, I will have it painted in Schlap :) Guess I should get on that job search, instead of reminiscing about nail polish. Get them for $16 at narscosmetics.com

Wish Chanel would take notes and produce a vintage line of polishes! Remember years and years ago the color Night Sky?...that polish single-handedly changed how I approached nail polish.

Art Catch-Up

So many shows to see!

1. Brooklyn Museum's "Seductive Subversion: Women Pop Artists, 1958-1968"
Acknowledges the queens of Pop instead of the kings!
2. Metropolitan Museum of Art "John Baldessari: Pure Beauty" & "Big Bambú"
A major retrospective of the Baldessari covering the past 50 years.
I have been trying for months to climb big Bambú on the MET's roof! I am going to make it this week before it closes on the 31st.
3. Museum of Arts and Design "Dead or Alive"
I fell in love with this museum last year. The shows are innovative and captivating, so can't wait to see this one.
4. MOMA "New Photography 2010"
I love photography, so I have to see this show of photographs which are influenced by cinema and print media.
5. Gagosian "Gregory Crewdson"
I have a love/hate relationship with this photog. Maybe this show will make me have a solid opinion...
6. Pace Gallery "50 Years at Pace"
Marking their 50th Birthday, Pace is looking back to exhibitions and works that made them a art superpower.
7. Luxembourg & Dayan "Jeff Koons"
A re-staging of the 1991 show "Made in Heaven," composed of images of him in certain "positions" with his porn-star ex-wife. Should be scarring/interesting. Might need a drink after this one...
8. James Cohan "Roxy Paine"
Can't wait to see this large scale installation, "Distillation." Remember his amazing 2009 installation on the MET's roof?

I AM BACK!!

After almost ten months, I am back and excited to post more of my favorite things--fashion, photography, books, movies, music, etc., etc., etc.

A lot had happened since. I am ENGAGED!! (my man and my ring take my breath away every day...) We moved to Brooklyn and I just completed my masters thesis, The Growth and Grotesque in Suburbia in Contemporary Photography.

---sigh of relief---

95 pages, 13 artists, 45 photographs, 66 sources, and my headache just came back!
A massive undertaking but I'm over the moon that it is over and proud that I have this under my belt.

After turning it in, hugging my program director, and getting my photo taken in front of school, I walked outside, took a deep breath, and noticed that I FINALLY have time to do what I want to do without the stress of school/thesis weighing me down. The walk home, with several shopping bags in hand from my post-hand in shopping spree, could not have been more easy and lovely.

So here we go! I promise to not disappear for ten months again...or at least until I get a job...speaking of, if you hear of anything fabulous in the art/fashion world, let me know :)
Enjoy!!
